SF Gate reported The Carpinteria Ad Hoc Harbor Seal Advisory Committee has proposed a three-year closure of a 1,500-foot stretch of Carpinteria State Beach — which serves as the Carpinteria Harbor Seal Rookery — to protect the species year-round. The committee voted 5-2 on Dec. 19 to recommend the measure to the City Council, the Santa Barbara Independent reported.
