The Polish government appealed the judgment of a Belgian court requiring it to pay 1.3 billion euros (approximately 1.5 billion dollars) for refusing to receive 64 million doses of vaccines contracted by the European Union. Poland stopped accepting the shipments in 2022 arguing cause of force majeure due to the oversupply of vaccines and the economic impact resulting from the war in Ukraine.
