The investigation had taken place since last May when a woman was detained on suspicion of delivering drugs to her fellow prisoner during the period of the visit.
Four men and one woman were arrested in an operation of the Judicial Police that dismantled a group suspected of distributing psychotropic substances at the Prison Establishment of Vale do Sousa. The investigation began in May, after the arrest of a woman during a visit to the fellow prisoner.
The police, carried out by about half a hundred operations of the Directorate of the North, resulted in the execution of searches, inside and outside the jail, and in the arrest of the suspect group.
The Judicial Police detained four men and one woman, aged between 17 and 68, for introducing and trafficking drugs in the Prison Establishment of Vale do Sousa, in Paços de Ferreira.
