Patriots Releasing P Bryce Baringer Off Injured Reserve
Bryce Baringer is fully healthy, but New England is keeping Mitch Wishnowsky after he averaged 47.1 yards per punt, sources said.
On Monday, the New England Patriots released veteran punter Bryce Baringer, committing to Mitch Wishnowsky as the team's primary punter for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Baringer, who served as the team's starter since 2023, had been on injured reserve since suffering an undisclosed injury during the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Averaging 47.1 yards per punt, Wishnowsky has performed effectively across seven games, with 45.5% of his kicks landing within the opponents' 20-yard line.
With roster injuries mounting, New England faced a limited number of designations for players to return from injured reserve, making Baringer's return unlikely.
Now fully healthy, the 27-year-old is free to sign with any other team, concluding his tenure with the Patriots after 51 games and 219 total punts.
