Parisians vote in favour of tripling parking costs for SUVs
- Parisians voted to triple parking charges for SUV cars weighing more than 1.6 tons from outside the city, aiming to make the city greener and friendlier for pedestrians and cyclists.
- The increased parking fees for SUVs would be €18 per hour for the first two hours in central districts and up to €225 for a six-hour stay, compared to €6 and €75 for smaller cars respectively. In outer areas, fees would range from €12 to €150.
- The measure was supported by 54.5% of the voters, although only 5.7% of the eligible voters participated in the election.
