Greek firefighters are trying to contain a wildfire that has scorched a large area near Athens. Although the winds that fueled the blaze have weakened, temperatures are expected to rise significantly on Wednesday. According to data, the area surrounding the Greek capital has lost approximately 42 percent of its forest cover over the past decade.
It is estimated that within nine years, and after the latest fires, 45% of the forests of Attica have burned.
