OpenAI finds Russian and Chinese groups used its tech for propaganda campaigns
OpenAI has stopped five covert influence operations, involving networks from China, Russia, Iran, and Israel, from using ChatGPT to manipulate public opinion or shape political outcomes.
These networks included groups like the pro-Russian 'Doppelganger' and the pro-Chinese network 'Spamouflage,' as well as an Iranian operation called the International Union of Virtual Media.
OpenAI detected AI-generated content by recognizing common AI error messages in the comments, such as 'As an AI language model, I am here to assist.
