On December 4, 1997, Ana Orantes (Granada, 1937) went to Canal Sur to tell on Andalusian public television that her husband had physically and psychologically abused her for 40 years, as well as her children. Thirteen days later, he sprayed her with gasoline and set her on fire at the door of her home, in the Granada town of Cúllar Vega.
