OHL approves sale of Barrie Colts to Toronto-area businessman John Careri
The OHL said Careri, who owns the Toronto Patriots, will help continue the Colts' 30-year tradition of competitiveness.
- On Thursday, The Ontario Hockey League announced the Barrie Colts have been transferred to new majority owner John Careri, succeeding longtime owner Howie Campbell.
- Campbell purchased the team from Jamie Massie in 2006, overseeing Eastern Conference championships in 2010, 2013, and 2026 under his leadership.
- Careri serves as president and CEO of JONVIC Capital Inc., owns the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, and operates Everest Academy in Vaughan, Ont.
- OHL commissioner Bryan Crawford said Careri "brings a passion and enthusiasm for the game," expecting him to maintain the competitive tradition the Barrie Colts have enjoyed for more than 30 years.
