The horror trial in Avignon, France, has now entered its tenth and final week. Gisèle Pelicot was drugged for years by her husband so that other men could rape her. He did this “purely out of selfishness, without hurting her,” Dominique Pelicot said when he spoke for the last time at the trial on Tuesday. “You will die in the lies!”, his daughter shouted at him in the packed courtroom.

Dat deed hij “puur uit egoïsme, zonder haar pijn te doen”, zo zei Dominique Pelicot toen hij dinsdag voor een laatste keer op het proces het woord nam. “Je zal sterven in de leugens!”, riep zijn dochter hem nog toe in de volle rechtszaal.
