New Data Reveals Where U.S. Investors Are Using AI the Most
The report maps how investors in all 50 states are using AI, with California leading and Florida, Ohio and Colorado also ranking high.
On Monday, October 12, 2026, Investing.com released its AI Investing Index, ranking U.S. states by AI usage in investment research over 12 months, with California claiming the top position.
Senior Analyst Thomas Monteiro at Investing.com explained that "proximity to Wall Street used to count for a great deal in research terms," but AI now democratizes information for retail investors.
Ohio and Colorado tied for second, followed by Florida and Texas, while New York ranked 13th despite being home to Wall Street and the center of the U.S. financial industry.
Pennsylvania leads the country in engagement with AI-focused stocks, while investors nationwide use AI to analyze company news, dividends, financial statements, and technical data.
A March 2026 survey found 62% of U.S. retail investors already use AI for investment decisions, yet the U.S. ranks 19th among 66 qualifying countries, trailing Italy, Poland, Israel, Chile, and Argentina.
