Nevada Dmv Admits to Speaking with Ice Through an Encrypted App - the Nevada Independent

Nevada DMV admitted using Signal to communicate with a task force including ICE agents, despite legal restrictions on immigration enforcement involvement, officials said.

The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) communicated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the encrypted messaging app Signal to conduct its work on a federal task force that it claims is unrelated to immigration enforcement. This comes despite assurances the agency presented in court earlier this month that it does not conduct any "official activity" with the app, which allows users to automatically delete messages.
