Mubadala Capital tokenizes private markets fund on Solana, Sui, Base as Coinbase takes exposure
The fund has attracted about $75 million in onchain assets as Coinbase adds exposure on its balance sheet.
- On Thursday, Mubadala Capital, the asset management arm of Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund, launched a tokenized version of one of its private markets strategies using infrastructure from UAE-based tokenization specialist Kaio.
- Private markets have historically been illiquid and inaccessible to most investors, creating barriers through high minimum tickets, complex paperwork, and geographic constraints that tokenization aims to address.
- Coinbase Institutional added the tokenized strategy to its own balance sheet, while the fund has already attracted about $75 million in onchain assets across Base, Solana, and Sui blockchains.
- "Bringing it onchain extends that access to a new class of qualified investors without compromising the institutional discipline that defines how we invest," said Mubadala Capital's Head of Solutions.
- The launch supports the UAE's ambition to become a global hub for tokenized finance, as analysts project the tokenized asset market could reach $30.1 trillion by 2034.
