RCMP Confirm Body of Vernon Man Found
Police say no criminality is suspected, and the BC Coroners Service is investigating how the 40-year-old man died.
- On Aug 3, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP located the body of a 40-year-old man, identified as Riley Kelly, near Silver Star Road after discovering his abandoned white pickup truck.
- Police attended the scene after a member of the public found the abandoned vehicle, which was linked to an active missing person investigation that began last week.
- With the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, officers located the deceased man a short distance from the truck on Aug 3.
- Vernon RCMP confirmed that criminality is not suspected in the death of Riley Kelly, while the Coroners Service is conducting an independent, concurrent investigation to determine the cause of death.
- "Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased," Cpl Tania Finn said, adding that neither the RCMP nor the Coroners Service has further information.
