Millions rethink Christmas spending as winter bills put pressure on households
Zopa said 35% are cutting winter costs and 77% want banking perks tailored to changing needs.
A Zopa survey of 2,000 adults found that 40% of current account holders are rethinking their finances ahead of Christmas as winter bills and Government Budget concerns pressure household spending.
More than a third are adjusting spending to manage rising winter costs, including heating expenses, as 68% believe different times of the year require a different approach to money management.
Despite a desire for flexible financial tools, almost four in 10 current account holders have not used their banking perks in the past year, with 21% forgetting they exist and 18% finding them irrelevant.
With 77% of consumers preferring tailored benefits, Zopa Bank launched The Biscuit account, which chief strategy officer Merve Ferrero said gives "customers more choice over the benefits they receive."
The Biscuit account offers 2.75% AER variable interest on balances or 3% cashback on up to £150 of monthly spending on eating out or Direct Debits, providing personalized everyday banking options.
