The caravans of migrants leaving Mexico’s southern border “are just the visible tip of the iceberg” of the worsening humanitarian crisis, since between January and August of this year, 925,000 people were reported in transit, according to data from the National Institute of Migration (INM), said Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
