Mecca Pact Envoys in Tehran as US Readies Iran Strike
The Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani delegation sought a regional security deal as U.S. forces were said ready for major operations within 96 hours.
On Monday, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin met Iranian officials in Tehran to discuss regional security.
Signatories of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, signed August 7, 2026, met to manage regional threats including Houthi attacks without relying on American goodwill.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said discussions covered "Israel's expansionist policies, developments in the Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and the repercussions of U.S. and Israeli military action against Iran."
The four nations agreed to continue a quadrilateral dialogue on peace and security, though the joint statement did not announce specific understandings regarding Yemen or U.S.-Iran tensions.
Parallel to these diplomatic efforts, U.S. forces are positioned to begin "new, potentially major" operations against Iran within 96 hours of a presidential order, with decisions expected after November 3.
