Google Local Services Ads Transition to Performance Max: What to Save Before Your Account Migrates
Google says advertisers should save historical reports and verify tracking numbers before migration as manual bidding and vertical-level target CPA are retired.
In August 2026, Google began transitioning Local Services Ads into Performance Max, moving campaigns from the standalone dashboard into Google Ads.
This migration adjusts management tools rather than ad experience; campaigns remain keywordless and pay-per-lead on Google Search and Google Maps, though manual bidding is retired.
Because Google will not transfer historical performance reports, Meagan McLoughlin, Manager of Integrated Marketing at CallTrackingMetrics, advises advertisers to export data before migration to preserve year-over-year trends.
Weekly budgets convert to daily averages, tracking numbers require verification to ensure calls route correctly, and McLoughlin recommends assigning a migration owner to monitor the two-week stabilization period.
Google is rolling out the migration in three phases, starting with U.S. home and storefront service advertisers, requiring agencies to use a 14-day window to document configurations and monitor lead quality.
