Lidl customers 'so sad' as supermarket confirms major change to loyalty rewards app

Starting Tuesday, May 5, Lidl will replace 'Coupon Plus' with 'Lidl Plus Points' in its app, requiring existing customers to meet their April 2026 spending targets by Monday, May 4.
Previously, Coupon Plus rewarded customers with free items at £10, £50, and £100 monthly spend levels; the new scheme allows collecting points on every purchase exchangeable in the Rewards Marketplace.
To celebrate the launch, Lidl is offering 100 welcome points from May 5 to July 31, alongside double points on all fresh fruit purchases between May 5 and May 22.
Louise Weise, chief customer officer at Lidl, told The Sun the change aims to give customers "more freedom to decide the rewards that suit them" based on feedback received.
Customer reactions on Reddit have been mixed, with some saying they will miss the "free big bag" of potatoes, while others praised it as the "Best supermarket loyalty scheme for the type and amount of shopping I do.
