Summary by Ground News
House Bill 622 would require the governor to call a special election to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat and allow the winner to serve until the end of the unexpired term. The change comes on the heels of a 2021 law that was sponsored by Republican Senate President Robert Stivers, of Manchester. The original law also had the backing of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.
