Kansas City Chiefs to Sign Kicker Justin Tucker to Practice Squad
The move comes after Harrison Butker missed six kicks this season, including one extra point, according to team and league reports.
- The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, marking the 13-year NFL veteran's return to professional football.
- Harrison Butker's recent struggles prompted the move; the kicker converted just 11 of 16 field goal attempts through six games this season, including two misses against the Seattle Seahawks.
- A 7-time Pro Bowler, Tucker holds an 89.1% career field goal percentage and served a 10-game suspension in 2025 for violating the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, though he denied allegations made by 16 massage therapists.
- Butker retains his starting job for now, though he faces immediate pressure; NFL Network's Ian Rapoport stated Butker "hes going to have pressure put on him by Tucker."
- Following failed tryouts with the Miami Dolphins and other clubs, the 36-year-old veteran now returns to the NFL on the practice squad after not playing during the 2025 season.
