Allen Laments Not Throwing Ball Away After Interception Seals Bills Loss
Allen said he should have thrown the ball away as Buffalo’s final drive ended with his third interception in two games.
On Sunday, October 4, 2026, the Buffalo Bills lost 29-26 to the New England Patriots after quarterback Josh Allen threw a late interception into triple coverage at Highmark Stadium. Buffalo dropped to 3-1.
Allen has struggled recently, committing three interceptions and a lost fumble over his past two games. Yahoo Sports reporter Kevin O'Connor noted the quarterback's "Hero ball play" as he sought to overcome pressure.
Despite the loss, Allen set a team record with his 88th career touchdown from scrimmage. Receiver Keon Coleman finished with 116 yards on six catches, including a 34-yard touchdown pass.
Rookie coach Joe Brady took blame for the play-calling, stating, "In those moments, I've got to be better." The team now prepares for a West Coast swing against the Los Angeles Rams.
Buffalo hits the road for a West Coast swing with an extra day of rest before Monday Night Football. Division rival Patriots improved to 2-2, now only one game out of first place.
