Seven months after the transfer of 5,704 prisoners suspected of belonging to the Islamic State (IS) from prisons in northeastern Syria to Iraq, more than 60% of whom are Syrian, Iraqi judicial authorities announced on Tuesday, September 1, the end of the investigation procedures and the referral of the majority of the accused to the courts and the release of some 466 detainees, due to lack of evidence.
