Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a joint statement by the BRICS countries calling for restraint in the war in the Middle East. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on X that a joint statement was unanimously adopted on the first day of the annual summit in New Delhi.
The group was "deeply concerned about the escalation of tensions in the Middle East/West Asia," it said in a statement.
At the top meeting of the BRICS countries, the focus is on conflicts in the Middle East – and with Iran is a key player at the table. Instead of proposing solutions, appeals are formulated.
