Konrardy Hits Field Goal as Time Expires to Lift Iowa State Past No. 24 Oklahoma State, 51-49
The Cyclones snapped a two-game skid in a 1,114-yard shootout and won after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty aided the final drive.
On Saturday, kicker Kyle Konrardy made a 34-yard field goal as time expired to give Iowa State a 51-49 victory over No. 24 Oklahoma State in Ames, Iowa.
The teams combined for 1,114 total yards in a high-scoring offensive showcase, allowing the Cyclones to snap a two-game losing streak in which they had scored just 13 points.
Cyclones quarterback Jaylen Raynor threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a score; running back Aiden Flora rushed for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker countered with 323 passing yards and five touchdowns.
Oklahoma State took a 49-48 lead on a 7-yard touchdown reception by Wyatt Young with 53 seconds remaining, but Young was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after the play, and the penalty assessed on the kickoff gave Iowa State better field position.
Iowa State travels to Baylor next Saturday while Oklahoma State prepares for a road matchup against Kansas State, with both teams seeking to build momentum after the high-scoring contest.
