In 2024, asylum seekers had to wait an average of 53 weeks before the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) decided whether or not someone could stay in the Netherlands. Although fewer foreigners came to the Netherlands, that waiting time increased by ten weeks compared to 2023. In 2022, it took 31 weeks, according to the IND's annual figures.
