CAN says Borgu needs permanent security deployment and stronger surveillance around mosques after abductors took more than 60 worshippers, officials said.

- The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited the Government House in Minna on Saturday to coordinate rescue efforts, intensifying intelligence gathering and operational collaboration with other security agencies.
- Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago commended police efforts and thanked President Bola Tinubu for his intervention, while reiterating his administration's commitment to supporting security agencies through non-kinetic approaches.
- Borgu has experienced repeated violence in recent months, including suspected Boko Haram attacks on Pissa in June and bandit attacks on travellers along the Wawa-Lumma Road in August, with nine bodies recovered.
