- Lightning sparked the blaze on Saturday, July 25, near Inonoaklin Creek, burning in heavy timber on a steep slope between Cherryville and Edgewood. The terrain and hot, dry weather have complicated suppression efforts.
- Fire behaviour has been observed at rank 2 and 3, meaning open and surface flame with a moderate rate of spread and occasional tree candling. Heavy fuels in steep terrain challenge containment efforts.
- Airtankers are laying retardant to prevent further growth to the north, while Heavy Equipment constructs control lines to support containment and crew access. Helicopters bucket water along the south flank toward Highway 6.
- The Wildfire Service expects fire activity and smoke impacts to increase as daytime temperatures and wind speeds rise during peak heating hours. Travellers should remain focused on the road and avoid delaying personnel working in the area.
