Historic Vancouver Island house 'Shakesides' to find a new home
After being vacated in 2014, the historic house 'Shakesides' faced demolition until the Merville Community Association offered to move it to their hall location.
The Merville Community Association stated that saving 'Shakesides' represents a heritage win for local residents and visitors.
The relocation, managed by Nickel Bros, saves materials from the landfill and preserves embodied energy, as noted by the Merville Community Association.
Laing's vision included 'Shakesides' serving as a center for environmental education and research, as described in the Merville Community Association's release.
