Children bear the greatest burden of climate-driven heat exposure
New research by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) shows that globally up to 560 million children aged 0 to 9 years old (43% of all children in this age group) are living through at least one additional month (30 or more days) of heat stress per year due to human-induced climate change.
A study published this Wednesday, August 26 in the journal "Science Advances" estimates that 560 million young people are facing difficult physiological conditions for their organism, due to global warming. A phenomenon that is expected to worsen in the coming years.
