Hamilton shifts focus to Ferrari’s push for second in the F1 constructors’ race
Lewis Hamilton said Ferrari’s 119-point cushion for second place reflects the team’s recent podiums and his focus on next year’s car development.
On Thursday, Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton stated his sole focus is securing second place in the Constructors' Championship, saying "the team deserves it," rather than chasing the drivers' title which is out of reach this season.
Ferrari currently holds a 119-point lead over Red Bull and McLaren, fueled by strong podium finishes from Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc in the Bahrain Grand Prix, Singapore, and the United States over the last three races.
After a 12-year stint with Mercedes, Hamilton joined the Prancing Horse last year aiming to restore the team that has won 15 Constructors' Championships but hasn't secured the title since 2008.
Following this weekend's Mexico Grand Prix, Hamilton plans to use the remaining races as a test for next year's championship, focusing on improving car brakes and engine performance.
The season concludes with races in Brazili, Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, while Kimi Antonelli has all but secured the drivers' title with 365 points.
Lewis Hamilton knows that another Formula One driver's title is out of reach this season, so now he wants to make sure his Ferrari team secures second place in the builders' championship.
