Hackathon introduces international talent to work opportunities in Hong Kong

- An Europe-wide hackathon co-organized by Hong Kong Talent Engage and the EuroTech Federation brought winning innovators to the Greater Bay Area, positioning Hong Kong as a gateway for regional collaboration.
- The competition attracted about 1,200 applicants from over 25 countries, with about 250 advancing to the final round; around 20 winning talents subsequently visited Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou to explore local technology ecosystems.
- Delegates toured Cyberport, Hong Kong Science Park, and Northern Metropolis to gain an in-depth understanding of regional innovation, meeting industry leaders to explore industrial applications in AI and robotics.
- Following the visit, 90 per cent of finalists expressed stronger interest in the region. "What impresses us most is how vibrant and interconnected the tech ecosystem is," said Cem Araz, co-founder of heal.health in Germany.
- Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun stated the government wants global innovators to "build their future here," while HKTE director Felix Chan emphasized continued support for talent seeking long-term settlement.
