Telegram Was Fined 11.4 Million Rubles for Not Removing Prohibited Content in the Russian Federation
The Tagan Court of Moscow found Messenger Telegram guilty of not removing the content prohibited in the Russian Federation and handed over an Interfax reporter. "To impose Telegram Messenger Inc. an administrative penalty of a total of 11,400,000 roubles", the judge read out the decision.
The publication Careful News reports that the 11.4 million rubles were fined by "canals and posts" that were "directed to destabilize the social and political situation" in Russia and allegedly contained "fakes." The media also reported that Google was fined 7.6 million for "non-removal of publications", Pinterest for 3.8 million, and Apple for 3.5 million rubles.
