Dutch goalkeeper Piet Schrijvers, the “Bear of the Meer”, has died
Piet Schrijvers, goalkeeper of the golden Dutch generation of the 70s around Johan Cruijff, passed away at the age of 75. Schrijvers was known for his imposing appearance, which earned him the nickname the “Bear of the Meer” and - much less beautiful - the “Bolle van Zwolle”.
Former goalkeeper Piet Schrijvers dies at age 75
Former keeper Piet Schrijvers passed away at the age of 75. He was born in Jutphaas - the village that merged with Vreeswijk in Nieuwegein - and played in his youth at VV RUC from Utrecht and SEC from Soest. He made his professional debut for the Amersfoort HVC at the age of sixteen.
