Giants Sign Cornerback Greg Newsome to a 3-Year Contract Extension, AP Source Says
Greg Newsome II earned $32 million guaranteed after winning a starting role and posting career-best coverage numbers for New York.
The New York Giants agreed to a three-year, $46 million contract extension with cornerback Greg Newsome on Tuesday, featuring $32 million guaranteed.
Signed to a one-year, $8 million contract in March, Newsome previously played for the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Giants this season.
Playing 90% of defensive snaps, Newsome has recorded 17 tackles, six passes defended, and one interception while allowing a 57.7% completion rate, a career low.
The extension provides financial flexibility for New York to potentially release cornerback Paulson Adebo next offseason, saving $14 million against a $6.317 million dead money hit.
Bleacher Report analyst Moe Moton predicted the contract could become the team's "Biggest Bust" in 2026, citing Newsome's previous struggles as a pass defender with other teams.
