Ex-Pop Star Gary Glitter Pleads Not Guilty to U.K. Charges of Historical Sex Offenses

On Wednesday, former British pop star Paul Gadd, known as Gary Glitter, appeared via videolink at Southwark Crown Court to plead not guilty to eight counts of historic sex offenses against a young girl.
Prosecutors allege the 82-year-old committed at least 20 incidents of sexual abuse between 1978 and 1981 at his home in Kensington and Chelsea, where he allegedly invited the victim, aged eight to 11, for chocolate.
Gadd, who sold 18 million records as a "glam rock" star in the 1970s, denies four charges of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, and two charges of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.
Judge Tony Baumgartner, the Recorder of Westminster, remanded Gadd into custody at HMP Channing Wood and adjourned the case for a three-week trial beginning November 22, 2027.
Metropolitan Police investigators reported the allegations first surfaced in January 2025, leading to an interview with the former singer on July 22, 2025, before current charges were brought.
