The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Hon. Dawda A. Jallow, on Wednesday announced the appointment of a British barrister, Martin Hackett, as the special prosecutor for the prosecution of perpetrators of crimes against humanity allegedly committed under former President Yahya Jammeh's regime from July 1994 to January 2017.
The Gambian Ministry of Justice appointed at a press conference this Wednesday 8 April the special prosecutor in charge of prosecuting crimes committed under the brutal regime of former dictator Yahya Jammeh. This is the experienced British lawyer Martin Hackett who will have the heavy task of doing justice, two years after the adoption of a law to create an office to monitor these cases.
