3 Accused in Facebook Marketplace Jewelry-Sale-Turned-Armed-Robbery in Franklin, Police Say

Police said the suspects were arrested after a pursuit and face aggravated robbery, felony evading and evidence tampering charges.

  • On Oct. 9, Franklin Police Department officers responded to an armed robbery at a private home in northeast Franklin, which investigators determined stemmed from a Facebook Marketplace jewelry transaction that occurred shortly after 11 p.m.
  • Following the incident, police arrested Rubel Rodriguez-Lisa, 19, Ivan Lagos-Espinoza, 22, and Jose Paiz-Godoy, 23, who face multiple felony charges including aggravated robbery, felony evading, and tampering with evidence.
  • Officers pursued the suspects' vehicle immediately following the robbery, successfully taking all three men into custody a short time later. The investigation remains ongoing.
  • Police officials are warning residents to prioritize safety when using Facebook Marketplace, especially for high-value items like jewelry. They recommend meeting in public, well-lit locations with security cameras rather than at private residences.
  • To protect against becoming targets, authorities advise bringing another person to transactions and avoiding large cash exchanges. These precautions help safeguard sellers and buyers from suspicious individuals on online platforms.
