WITH RISING costs, one of the biggest problems facing florists is unfair competition, and they are particularly concerned about black market sales, including unregistered flower sales on the streets, markets and via social media, especially on the eve of All Saints' Day, said the Croatian Chamber of Crafts (HOK).
Florists welcome the Government's decision to allow retail outlets related to the sale of flowers, wreaths, candles and lanterns to operate again this year on All Saints' Day.
When it comes to the prices of flower arrangements for All Saints' Day, the HOK said that the final price of flower arrangements is affected by the price of imported flowers, raw materials, transportation, energy, labor, and other input costs.
The business of florists is also being affected by changes to the Trade Act. They are most affecting craftsmen who operate in cemeteries and shrines connected to churches, as well as souvenir shops, and who are business and market-oriented precisely on the days when citizens visit the aforementioned places the most, which are Sundays and holidays, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Industry told Hina.
