Fire Crews Continue to Tackle Overnight Blaze in Comeragh Mountains
Crews from three Waterford stations have contained the blaze so far, and officials say no buildings are at risk.
Waterford Fire Service continues to battle a gorse fire in the Comeragh Mountains near Mahon Falls, with crews from Dungarvan, Kilmacthomas, and Portlaw responding to the blaze that began on Sunday.
An Orange Fire Danger Notice remains in effect for the region, prompting officials to urge the public to avoid outdoor activities that could spark fires, including lighting campfires or barbecues.
Firefighters are simultaneously monitoring a week-old blaze on Slievenamon, while Waterford and Kilkenny Fire Service successfully contained a substantial wildland fire on Tory Hill over the weekend after 17 hours of battling.
Shortly before 6pm today, Dublin Fire Brigade personnel responded to a separate gorse wildfire at Glencullen in the Dublin Mountains, with five units bringing the blaze under control by 9pm.
Officials confirmed "no buildings are currently at risk and no injuries have been reported," while advising citizens to report any fire sightings immediately by calling 999 or 112.
