Police have seized the dog and are testing its breed after arresting a 37-year-old man, while the post-mortem gave a provisional cause of death.

  • On Tuesday, Senior Coroner Lincoln Brookes suspended the inquest into Jamie-Lea Biscoe's death following a written request from Essex Police, who are conducting a criminal investigation into the matter.
  • Jamie-Lea Biscoe, 19, died on April 10 at her home in Leaden Roding after being attacked by the family's Lurcher-cross, Shy, sustaining "serious traumatic injuries to her neck."
  • A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death. He was released on bail until July.
  • Authorities seized the Lurcher-cross for breed testing while the investigation proceeds. Brookes described the case as a "truly tragic loss of life" and offered condolences to the teenager's family.
