The End of the "Blouse Tax," Which Lula Created, Will Be Overseen by a Member of the Workers' Party.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), appointed Congressman Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG) to oversee the bill to end the tax on blouses. The appointment was made at the request of Lula (PT), this Wednesday (26), at the Palácio da Alvorada. The congressman from Minas Gerais will chair the joint committee and will be able to set the pace for the vote.
The CNI (National Confederation of Industry) stated this Wednesday (August 26, 2026) that the end of the "blouse tax," a 20% import tax on international purchases of up to US$50 made by individuals, puts 109,000 jobs and R$21.8 billion in national production at risk in 2026.
