Electric spoon that 'enhances salty taste of food and promotes healthier eating' launched in Japan
Kirin Holdings Co. in Japan launched an electric spoon in May that heightens the taste of saltiness, targeting those aiming to reduce salt intake.
The battery-operated Electric Salt Spoon intensifies the salt taste of low-sodium foods without extra salt, offering four intensity levels for users to choose from.
By passing a weak electric current through the spoon's tip to concentrate sodium ion molecules on the tongue, the perceived saltiness of food increases by 1.5 times, as claimed by Kirin.
