'Dolly Loved the World and Everyone in It' | Dolly Parton's Younger Sister, Stella, Releases Statement After Her Death
Stella Parton said her sister’s weekly phone calls and generous spirit will be missed as tributes pour in from fans and public figures.
On Aug. 27, Stella Parton posted a Facebook tribute to her older sister, country music icon Dolly Parton, who died Aug. 25 at 80.
The icon grew up in a family of 12 children in East Tennessee and died after a brief battle with cancer.
Stella recalled their Tuesday morning phone calls, remembering how Dolly would laugh off criticism by saying, "Shoot, Tedda, we've got more important things to do than worry about their silly asses."
Tributes have poured in from fans and family members, including nephew Bryan Seaver, who said "sadness lies with us, not with Dolly."
Recently, Dolly agreed to participate in experimental drug trials hoping to help others, Stella noted, adding that her sister's "love, respect and goodness will remain.
