Dolly Parton estate says nephew barricaded home amid lawsuit
The estate says Bryan Seaver threatened staff and missed a deadline to challenge a temporary restraining order, while he seeks more time to find a lawyer.
The Dolly Parton estate claims Bryan Seaver, her former security head, constructed a barricade of yellow caution tape and barbed wire to block a process server attempting to deliver a lawsuit at his home, according to Rolling Stone.
After announcing Parton's death on August 25 at age 80, Seaver was terminated within one month, prompting She's Alive LLC to obtain a restraining order after alleging he threatened to destroy her legacy.
Court filings allege Seaver began threats weeks before Parton's death, telling her entertainment attorney, "I'm not an entertainment person. I'm a killer." Seaver denied the allegations to TMZ, stating "most of the comments I stand by."
In a Friday motion, Seaver sought a 10-day postponement of the October 9 hearing, claiming he cannot retain counsel due to Pinnacle Bank conflicts; the estate urged the court to deny the delay and make the restraining order permanent.
The dispute extends beyond the barricade allegations, with Seaver claiming every attorney consulted has ties to Pinnacle Bank, while a new security team was installed at Parton's Nashville home in September following his firing.
Bryan Seaver, nephew of Dolly Parton and former head of the singer's security, requested another ten days for the hearing of her lawsuit in Tennessee, United States. According to Associated Press (AP), the application was filed on Friday (2), while Seaver tries to find a lawyer to defend him. The hearing is scheduled for 9 October.
