Digital Science Acquires Jenni AI
The acquisition will connect Jenni AI to Dimensions' 171 million publications so researchers can verify sources against the published record.
On Thursday, October 29, 2026, Digital Science announced its acquisition of Jenni AI, an AI-native research platform trusted by more than 8 million students and researchers across 189 countries.
Stephen Leicht, CEO of Digital Science, said general-purpose AI tools generate fake references, whereas integration with Dimensions' 171-million-publication database allows users to verify citations against the published record.
A September 2026 Oxford University Press survey of more than 2,600 researchers found that 74% are unsure about AI disclosure guidelines, while 48% admit they have not fully disclosed their own usage.
Jenni AI will continue operating as a standalone product under its current team, with plans to incorporate Digital Science's research infrastructure and full-text search capabilities over the coming months.
Founded in 2020 by David Park and Henry Mao, the platform aims to empower researchers by ensuring AI supports rather than replaces the writing and citation process.
