Detectives Reveal Face of Man Found Dead in Wetsuit in Bid to Solve Long-Running Mystery

Dyfed-Powys Police have released a facial reconstruction by Face Lab at Liverpool John Moores University more than a year after a dog walker found the man's body floating at Claerwen Reservoir on October 17, 2024.
After 16 months of inquiries, investigators checked missing-persons databases across UK police forces and issued international appeals via Interpol, but no match emerged.
Using post-mortem material, the Face Lab team reconstructed a face showing a pronounced overbite, a rounded chin, and a square jawline, based on CT scans and dental reports, Ponting said.
Dyfed-Powys Police urged anyone who visited Claerwen Reservoir between July and October 18, 2024, to contact them via the online portal, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 to help identify the man, so police can trace his family and give him a proper burial.
Given estimates he was in the water up to 12 weeks, police say the cause remains unestablished after an inconclusive post-mortem, and the reservoir's remoteness complicates searches.
