José Manuel Ludovice Santa Bárbara, designer of the iconic logo and liveries for Comboios de Portugal (CP), sadly passed away aged 89 on the 28th of April 2026. In honour of his legendary design work, we would like to take a moment to reflect on his impressive career:
One of the greatest Portuguese artists, due to his important and extensive work in the visual arts, in areas such as sculpture, painting, medals, illustration and design.
He drew the covers of the two passwords of April 25: And After Farewell and Grândola Vila Morena. Communist militant and anti-fascist, his painting and public art is on the streets and underground.
I was 89 years old.
