Demuth arrives to cheers (and jeers) as GOP buses through Waite Park
Candidates emphasized taxes, fraud and turnout as supporters and protesters gathered at the party headquarters.
On Friday, October 30, Republican gubernatorial candidate Lisa Demuth led a campaign bus tour stop in Waite Park, taking a selfie with local supporters Ron and Elaine Holmer.
The five-day Minnesota GOP tour made its seventh of 20 stops at the event, targeting voter turnout for the November 3 midterm in a state without a Republican in statewide office for 20 years.
Protesters shouted expletives and waved signs, while Republican supporters responded by chanting "USA!" and distributing copies of the original Minnesota flag, changed to a simpler design in 2024.
Coincidentally, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and FBI Director Kash Patel held a news conference nearby in St. Cloud touting the federal government's "war on fraud," echoing Republican candidates' message.
The caravan continues through the weekend with stops in Owatonna, Rochester, and Winona, concluding in Anoka and Blaine on Monday, November 2, as candidates urge supporters to focus on voter turnout.
