De La Poza's 4th quarter field goals boot Tarleton State past McNeese 27-24
De La Poza finished 2 of 3 on field goals, and Kaden Anderson threw for 363 yards as Tarleton State improved to 3-0.
On Saturday night, Tarleton State Rams kicker Alejandro De La Poza secured a 27-24 victory over McNeese with a 24-yard field goal as time expired, keeping The Texans undefeated at 3-0.
McNeese held a 24-21 advantage after Deaglan Camron kicked a 37-yard field goal late in the third quarter, but The Texans dominated the final 15 minutes to reclaim momentum.
The Texans quarterback Kaden Anderson threw for 363 yards and Tylan Hines rushed for 141 yards with two touchdowns; McNeese quarterback Devin Lippold threw for 286 yards and Elisha Edwards had 111 yards receiving.
Poza's game-winning kick capped a 16-play, 84-yard drive lasting almost four minutes, marking the second-straight season the Tarleton State Rams have won their first three games.
The McNeese Cowboys travel to face the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sept. 19, while the Tarleton State Rams return home to host Merrimack next Saturday.
